Festive Message 2022
It seems no time since we celebrated the beginning of 2022, a year we all hoped would mark a change from the deep worries caused by the uncertainty caused by Covid during the previous two years.
So, I wonder how this year will be remembered?
It began with Omicron, saw huge constitutional change and has ended with political upheaval and a mounting cost of living. It was a year of highs and lows. Little did we know when we celebrated the Platinum Jubilee in June that three months later the nation would mourn the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, and welcome in a new era with the proclamation of our new monarch King Charles III. Yet throughout all, our community has worked together and has made progress on those things which are important to us all. It’s a quality which will be needed in great amounts in the year to come.
The festive season gives us the chance to pause for breath, to reunite with family and friends and reinforce those ties which are important to us all. On behalf of the Parish Council may I wish all who live or work in the community that is Othery a Happy Christmas and a peaceful and healthy New Year.
At this festive time whatever your religious belief may or may not be may the humanity of the occasion embrace us all.
