Extraordinary General Meeting of the Othery Society
An EGM has been called by the current committee of the above organisation on Wednesday 19th October 2022 at the Othery Village Hall at 7pm to decide its future. Due to personal commitments the current committee is standing down which makes the future survival of the Society in doubt. The Othery Society is a social group which in the past has organised theatre trips, tours of Dartmouth Naval Academy, Wells Cathedral etc. In addition, talks, quiz nights, social evenings and film nights are amongst a few of the events it has arranged. However, the breadth and dimension of the activities it organises are only limited by the minds of the committee! Membership is open to all, whether Othery residents or otherwise.
If you are interested in being part of the team to take the Society forward to new horizons, please either attend the meeting or send an expression of interest to Jenny Anderson at ‘jennyjoy2@hotmail.com
The Othery Society is financially secure so any new committee would be able to hit the ground running without worrying about immediate funding. For survival the society requires a new committee of between 7 to 12 people as laid down in the constitution. If insufficient people come forward to secure its future an announcement will be made informing the membership of the formal process of winding up the society.
