4 – Certifying the minutes of the meetings held on Monday14th and 26th April 2025:

5 – Public question time and Neighbourhood Watch/Crime report and an update from Cllr Matthew Martin:
The clerk read an email that he had just received from Alex Graham declaring hisinterest in becoming a Parish councillor for the vacancy that exists. Cllr Wright sent him a textmessage and he attended a selection meeting. He gave a short presentation answered some questionsand was asked to leave the room for the Parish Council to consider his application. He wasunanimously approved and returned to be offered the position which he accepted. The clerk had thenecessary forms for him to complete to become a Parish Councillor for Othery. Cllr Matt Martin hasbeen on holiday so he has no formal update for the meeting. The clerk has a police report fromTaunton to forward to the councillors.
6 – Matters Arising:
The minutes are up to date on the Website.Clean surroundings will support Othery will equipment and collectwhat is picked up.Ashley Fox was sending a letter to Towens last week.
7 – Playing Field:
Cllr Selway is getting a tree surgeon to check the trees. The Clerkhas at last had a response from the Somerset Council to our request to buy the playing field and hasmoved the process forward. Cllr Martin was disappointed that he had not been informed by theSomerset Council. The clerk will ask the SPFA for a date of the inspection so that someone fromthe Parish council has the opportunity to attend.
8 – Cemetery:
Cemetery wall damage: No reply has been received to Ashley Fox’s letter.
9 – Highways:
The gulleys are full of the gravel from the road resurfacing andneed to be cleaned out before we have too much rain. The 30 mph sign at the top of the hilladjacent to the cemetery has been damage and along with the sign on the other side of the roadneed attention. Cllr Martin would see if he could assist with this matter. It was felt that the Schoolflashing signs should be left in place and used to emphasise the 20 mph speed past the school.
10 – Community Speedwatch:
Suspended because of the new 20 mph limit in Othery.
11 – Planning notice:

The idea of meeting every other month wasdiscussed with the clerk pointing out that we always need to meet in May and June which makes lifedifficult but it was decided to have it as an agenda item for the next meeting.Cllr Betty and the clerk attended the funeral of Alex Brown and the donation to Love Musgrove washis charity as agreed at the last meeting.
